The day itself
In the walled garden, under the old pear tree.
Elderflower and fizz on the lawn while the band warms up.
Long tables in the orangery. Considerably too much bread.
In the barn until the lights come on.
How we got here
A mutual friend’s housewarming in Peckham. We spent the evening arguing about a film neither of us had finished.
A flat with bad windows, a cat called Pudding, and the beginning of the garden habit.
Engaged on a cold beach in Deal, entirely without ceremony, which suited us.
This, with all of you.
What to wear
Black tie. Long dresses or cocktail length, dinner jackets or dark suits. The garden is lawn, so leave the stilettos at home.

Chilham station is eleven minutes’ walk. Trains from London St Pancras take an hour.
Free on site. Cars may be left overnight and collected before noon.
